Kool-Aid® Stain Removal for Consumers
from Bane-Clene®
When drinks are spilled, always blot or sponge them off immediately with plain cool water. If they are allowed to dry, they are more difficult to remove - even by the professional.
To remove stains caused by soft drinks and Kool-Aid, always sponge such stains promptly with cool water. This t will remove many of them. Or soak them with cool water for 30 minutes or more. Some may need to be soaked overnight. After sponging or soaking, place a WHITE towel on the spot and weight it down with a brick or anything else that won't be harmed if wet. Remove the towel the next day and allow to dry. If the stain remains, you may have to call a professional. Old stains and stains that have been set by heat are much more difficult to remove. Some household spotting agents may set the stain, making it nearly impossible for even the professional to remove! NEVER use vinegar on a stain - acids set dyes!
For stains containing food dyes such as Kool-Aid, you may need to use a stronger product such as Juice and Dye Remover.
NOTE: Some products like hydrogen peroxide, ammonia, bleach or alcohol can actually bleach or change the color in some fabrics. Use of some household spotters can actually "set the stain".
